ABOUT US
THE BEGINNING
My name is Rachel DesRoche, I am the founder of the Rylee Faith Foundation. I have founded this charity in memory of my daughter, Rylee Faith.
Rylee Faith was born December 2005 at 25 weeks, 3 days gestation (3 1/2 months premature). Rylee Faith was a mere 1lb, 11oz and 12 inches long. With her size she had little chance of survival. She lived in the Ottawa Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) for 15 days where she continued to fight for her life. Her life may not have been long, but she left permanent footprints in our lives.
Her short stay in the NICU was over Christmas and New Years so, I knew I wanted to do something for all the NICU babies like her that are fighting for their lives over Christmas, in honour of my angel. The very next Christmas, our family showed up at the Ottawa Hospital NICU on Christmas morning with 30 Christmas Gift Baskets to deliver to each and every NICU baby there. And I have continued to do this every year since.
As every baby has their own trials to overcome, whether they are big or small, their families live with a range of emotions and challenges. As I can relate, it is my goal is to bring these families some hope and cheer over Christmas.
WHAT WE DO?

My current mission is to help families with babies in the Ottawa Hospital NICU get a little bit of happiness on Christmas Day. Every year on Christmas Day we hand deliver 30 Christmas gift baskets to the babies and their families that are in the Ottawa Hospital NICU.
Just to name a few of the items included in these baskets are: Giant Teddy Bears; Knit blankets, hats, mitts; Gift Certificates; Diaper Bags; Chocolates. These are all purchased with donations or items that have been donated for these baskets.
We have had much success from the beginning with donations from large corporations such as Wal-Mart, Tim Hortons, Nestle Baby; local businesses; friends; family; and strangers who all support this.
ULTIMATE GOAL
My ULTIMATE GOAL (in addition to my current mission) is to finanically assist those same families with struggles they may incur during their stay at the Ottawa Hospital NICU throughout the entire year. For example: to provide Gas gift certificates; Parking passes; Meal gift certificates; etc.
